How to take effective Trial Calls?

First of all, it's awesome that you are taking time out of your day and giving free trial calls to help the mentees get familiar with you and the whole process.

But sometimes it happens that the mentees don't get satisfied with the trial session. There can be a lot of reasons behind this. We want your efforts to go in the right direction and provide value to the mentees.

Hence, we came up with a list of points to be mindful of to help you conduct a successful trial session.

  1. Set expectations: Make sure that both you and the mentee understand the purpose of the trial call, what will be covered, and what the next steps will be.

  2. Build rapport: As a mentor, you’d need to open up your mentee, and identify their problem. Take the time to get to know the mentee, understand their goals and challenges, and build a rapport with them. This can help to create a more comfortable environment for the call.

  3. Address their needs: Make sure that the trial call addresses the mentee's needs and goals, and provides them with the information and support they need to make an informed decision about taking a long-term mentorship program with you. Most of the mentees tend to talk only about their end goal and the quickest time to get there.

As a mentor, tell them how their goals are achievable, tell them how you’re gonna make sure that weekly and monthly progress is happening, tell them how the preparation is not going to have a pre-defined session-based approach but rather a monthly access to the mentor, on and off the sessions.

  1. Highlight the benefits of Long Term Mentorship: Emphasise the benefits such as a personalised approach, consistent support and responsiveness throughout the program from your end. Give the feeling of assurance and confidence that you'll be taking complete responsibility for their success.

  2. Encourage feedback: Encourage the mentee to share their thoughts and feedback about the trial call and listen to their concerns and questions. This will also help you improve and understand their perspective.

  3. Follow-up: After the trial call, follow up with the mentee to answer any remaining questions and provide additional information, if needed. This can help to build trust and increase the chances of conversion to long-term mentorship.

By following these tips, we hope that you can connect with the mentee even better and make this a positive and informative experience for them.
